Defining zones with light
Create zones within your outdoor space by utilising light to suit the purpose of different areas. We recommend that you consider how you’d like to use different spaces and the reasons for illuminating them, are you looking for ambient light or is there a specific use for the area.
To illuminate pathways around the garden we recommend using a bollard or a wall light that provides downward directed light, to ensure that the ground has sufficient lighting to help avoid trip hazards and clearly mark walkways.
If you’re looking to create a soft and pleasant atmosphere in the garden, consider shorter bollards such as the Bysted Garden bollard, placed around the garden in flower beds or near the base of trees or fences to create little islands or light that simply enhance the ambience of your outdoor spaces.
When it comes to the patio or terrace, these are often used for dining, relaxing and entertaining, so it may be a good idea to choose wall lights that provide some general lighting, as well as placing a portable lamp or two on any tables that may require extra illumination for example when eating.
