About the PH Artichoke Pale Rose

In 1958, Poul Henningsen designed the PH Artichoke for Langelinie Pavilionen, a modernist Copenhagen restaurant, in which the iconic pendant continues to inspire guests. Each of the 72 leaves on the PH Artichoke are carefully mounted on the frame by hand, giving the pendant its distinctive shape, that inspired its name, while also ensuring glare-free light from every angle. The leaves of the original PH Artichoke had a rosy hue on the inner sides, which has inspired the colour of the PH Artichoke Pale Rose, a pendant that is a beautiful statement piece.

The pendant illuminates any space with a 100% glare-free light due to the 72 leaves, which form 12 precisely positioned rows that hold six leaves each. The fixture ensures the light is distributed inwards as well as outwards, thereby emitting a beautiful and comfortable light.

Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen by the famous Danish actress Agnes Henningsen. He never graduated as an architect, but studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, Denmark from 1911-14, and then at Technical College in Copenhagen from 1914-17.
