The PH 5 lamp remains one of Louis Poulsen’s most recognised pendant designs. Its distinctive five-shade system directs light both downwards and outwards, creating soft illumination above dining tables, kitchen islands and shared spaces.

The carefully composed shade structure gives the PH 5 pendant its sculptural presence while maintaining visual comfort. Form, function and light distribution remain closely connected, making it suitable for both private homes and professional interiors.

Introduced in 2017, the PH 5 300 brings the design language of the PH 5 into a smaller format. With a diameter of 30cm, it is suited to spaces where a more compact pendant is preferred, while preserving the characteristic glare-free light of the PH system.

The PH 5 300 uses the same carefully balanced multi-shade principle developed by Poul Henningsen. Its scale makes it well suited to kitchen counters, smaller dining areas, bedrooms, lounge areas and arrangements with several pendants.

Available in a considered selection of colours and finishes, the PH 5 300 offers a refined expression of the PH5 lamp family, combining compact proportions with soft, well-directed light.

Poul Henningsen designed the PH 5 pendant in 1958 as a response to the changing shapes and sizes of light sources. The lamp was developed to provide consistent, glare-free light, regardless of the light source used.

The number 5 refers to the 50cm diameter of the main shade, while PH stands for Poul Henningsen’s initials. Today, the PH 5 lamp remains one of Louis Poulsen’s most recognised designs.
