KIM Swisslife is a multi-family housing project in Winterthur, Switzerland. It consists of 208 flats with commercial areas on the ground floor. Louis Poulsen has delivered the lighting solution for the hall ways with the Ripls wall/ceiling lamp and illuminates the entrances of the building with Toldbod wall lamps. From a distance, the opal-shaped Ripls lamp resembles an illuminating frisbee. On walking past the lamp, you discover how the lamp catches the light and creates its own refractions. Like circular ripples in the water when you cast a stone into a glassy forest lake.
