KIM Swisslife is a multi-family housing project in Winterthur, Switzerland. It consists of 208 apartments with commercial areas on the ground floor. Louis Poulsen has provided the lighting solution for the hallways with the Ripls wall/ceiling lamp while illuminating the building’s entrances using Toldbod wall lamps. From a distance, the opal-shaped Ripls lamp resembles an illuminated frisbee. Upon walking past the lamp, you discover how it catches the light and creates its own refractions—like circular ripples in the water when you cast a stone into a glassy forest lake.
