This unique and historic hotel in Austria’s picturesque Salzkammergut region wanted to modernise its appearance while honouring its history. How could lighting add a contemporary touch while remaining in harmony with the hotel’s classic design and atmosphere? Louis Poulsen had the answer.
The two dramatic oriel windows of the Hotel Goldener Ochs each now feature the iconic PH Artichoke, designed by Poul Henningsen. The pendants, in the 840mm copper rose variation, have become a recognisable feature of the hotel from outside. In fact, the management report that guests now specifically request these rooms – demonstrating the value that great lighting design can add.
In total the hotel has installed more than 80 Louis Poulsen fittings in its guest rooms. These include a number of VL Ring Crown and Yuh bedside wall lights, as well as VL38 and Yuh floor and table lamps. Several AJ Eklipta wall lights, VL45 Radiohus pendants and limited edition amber glass versions of the PH 3/2 “Water Pump” floor lamp can also be seen.
