About the Bysted LED Upgrade Kit

Bysted was designed by Peter Bysted in 1975. Bysted won second prize in a competition held by Louis Poulsen for outdoor lighting. The idea was to position the shades so as to create an interesting pattern on the ground. The choice of COR-TEN steel as a material was revolutionary at the time, and still constitutes a major component of the product´s identity. The LED-upgrade kit contains all the required parts to make Bysted even more future-proof that it already is.

  • The fixture emits light directed downwards. The shades have a white painted undersurface to achieve optimal light reflection and produce a characteristic symmetric light pattern around the fixture. The LED-upgrade kit (also referred to as LED Retrofit kit) allows you to replace the old electrical components with a complete modern new LED unit, while retaining the original fixture.
