Poul Henningsen designed the PH 5 in 1958 to solve the problem of the bulb manufacturer’s constant-changing shapes and sizes of the incandescent bulb at the time, making it difficult to ensure a glare-free light.
The PH 5 was designed to fit all types of light sources and guaranteed a comfortable, glare-free light no matter the setup. This made the design so popular it quickly became synonymous with “the PH lamp” and continues to be a favourite and a true icon, as does the PH 5 Mini. The PH 5 Black Edition is introduced as a seasonal take on the iconic design, offering a bold, monochrome expression with its blend of black, white and burgundy.
