A new experience Aktiv 1

At Louis Poulsen, we create design to shape light. Behind every lamp lies craftsmanship and carefully thought through details with only one purpose: To complement the surroundings with the right light. Light that gives a pleasant atmosphere and make both the room and the people in it, beautiful.

This autumn offers both new and old classics – experience them here:

Patera is created in collaboration with the Danish designer, Øivind Slaatto. Patera is intended to serve as a modern chandelier. The complicated pattern – inspired by the Fibonacci sequence – is with light in mind thought through. Therefore, Patera is not only decorative in its appearance, but also functional with a beautiful and atmosphere filled light.

Patera

Pendant
Vinder af Design Awards 2016

The addition of two new models to the Patera family (450mm and 900mm in diameter) presents architects, designers and private customers with new opportunities to generate greater variation in their lighting solutions. It also allows application of a more consistent design idiom to both large and small spaces.

Perfect poetry

Patera emits a soft, pleasant light, whose secret lies in its intricate design: the lamp consists of a variety of differently positioned cells, which ensure that the correct angles are applied to the visor lines of the light and guard against all unpleasant glare. At the same time, the structure staggers the visual centre of Patera, consistently providing new impressions of the light when viewed from different angles.

Light material – simple mounting

Patera is made of white synthetic material and is relatively light, making it ideal for many locations. The entire assembly process is carried out by hand. The fixture comes assembled, and has a simple suspension system that makes it very easy to install.

All Patera models are supplied in both E27 and LED versions. The LED versions deliver optimal, energy-efficient light emission that simultaneously imbues the room with a pleasant ambience.

Øivind Slaatto

1978, Denmark

Øivind Alexander Slaatto (born 1978) is one of Denmark’s most promising designers, recognised for his simple and poetic solutions. While nature is Øivind’s most important source of inspiration, he also seeks to transfer features such as rationality, logic and – especially – harmony to his designs. Prior to gaining his master’s degree from the Danish Design School, Øivind studied music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. His appreciation for music permeates all areas of his approach to the design process. He is fully familiar with the concept of ‘practice makes perfect’, and constantly seeks to refine his solutions. In his own words, he wants his designs to be like a piece of music being played – which he wants people to experience as simple and light.
