Nouvelles et nouveautés de Louis Poulsen

02. New bright ideas from Louise Campbell
Louis Poulsen has teamed up again with Danish/English designer Louise Campbell to produce a fourth lighting fixture. Like the others, this one also reflects innovative thinking. No one can accuse Louise Campbell of repeating herself. Her creative side develops in step with the challenges she takes on, and this time she challenged both herself and Louis Poulsen.

03. AL 600 LED - Light that provides security
Everyone knows the feeling of approaching a tunnel in a dark night. The fear of the unknown. Tunnels are often poorly illuminated, murky or dark as a result of vandalism. This situation does not generate a sense of security. In cooperation with designer Mads Odgård, Louis Poulsen has developed a new fixture for a tunnel project in Albertslund, Denmark. Albertslund municipality has been a leader in many ways with respect to developing lighting for public spaces.

04. F+P Wall LED & F+P Post LED
First came F+P 550 LED. A pendant based on the LED light source design by world-famous architects, Foster + Partners. The pendant is the result of a design idea combined with Louis Poulsen's attitude towards the comfort and atmosphere-creating effects of lighting. This teamwork has now led to two new products with a related design. F+P Wall LED and F+P Post LED. The products are once again the result of an interpretation of the opportunities presented by the LED light source in combination with Louis Poulsen's lighting philosophy.

05. Skot - lighting which keeps up with the times
The world famous maritime inspired SKOT wall light is now available with an LED light source. The SKOT light is a design classic. Initially it used the incandescent bulb as a lighting source, followed by compact fluorescent bulbs, and has now reached its third lighting technology update.

07. Louis Poulsen wins British lighting award for best 2011 product

On 10 March, Louis Poulsen received the Lighting Design Award for best outdoor product in 2011 at a major gala event at London Hilton, Park Lane.

Louis Poulsen launched the Rubbie bollard in late autumn 2010. The bollard is conceived by Danish designer Peter Bysted. In fact, the design was used as a custom-design product at the world Expo in Hanover almost ten years ago. The product was highly complicated considering the technical possibilities of that time; indeed, the material was so controversial that Louis Poulsen dared not market the bollard without a prolonged test period. Rubbie is made of rubber, and the bollards made for the Expo were monitored through the years to assess the durability of the material. Louis Poulsen also chose to launch the product with the latest stride in light sources, viz. the LED.

08. AJ 50 Wall - a design icon featuring a new lighting technology

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of the AJ family, Louis Poulsen has developed an outdoor fixture that stays true to the design and lighting idea of Arne Jacobsen. On top of that, the fixture is fitted with LED.

For 50 years, Louis Poulsen has been marketing the AJ lamp, one of the design icons of Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. Its silhouette is instantly recognisable worldwide.

09. The OJ Family

It’s a fixture….

Danish designer Ole Jensen teamed up with Louis Poulsen to redefine the concept of a fixture.

Ole Jensen is renowned for his “self-explanatory” designs. No one doubts the use of his designs – they literally enlighten us about it. So what could be more natural than him trying his hand at creating a light fixture.

Actually, he ended up with all of three fixtures: a table lamp, a wall fixture and a floor lamp. To simplify things, they are all called OJ.

10. LED - New light source used with care
New light sources constantly emerge, and the increased focus on energy consumption entails greater demands on the reactivity of lighting manufacturers. LED is seen as the light source of the future, but it really is still a light source under development. Louis Poulsen tests all new light sources and quickly adopts them into the product range once they have been found suitable. However, Louis Poulsen places uncompromising demands on all new light sources, viz. they need to prove their legitimacy. Consequently, close correlation exists between the light source and the products featuring the light source. In short, the relationship between the light source, the product and applicability must be relevant.

11. LP Nest

With its new partnership with Bysted Architects, Louis Poulsen has extended the long string of architects that forms the foundation for Louis Poulsen’s global reputation as superb lightmakers.

‘The shape arises out of nature’s constructive logic. The shade of the lamp springs from the cool steel trunk like a stylised tree top. A filigree pattern that copies the beautiful, naked trees in wintertime, while elegantly supporting a disc of life-giving light.’

Erik Bystrup, Architect
